moarfish
I've built a OSx86 today with a ASUS P5GZ-MX and E4300. I've heard that E4300 can't overclock with 945G chipset. Why not go and get a 945GZ then? It's the best board for E4300. Stable and cheap. Highly Recommend. Installation is simple. Install with JAS 10.4.8 Install ALC883 Sound driver and then install Marvel Yukon 8001 driver. (Search in this forum) Update to 10.4.9 Everything just work. It got only 2 ram slot, I've put in 2GB DDR677 in it. Great board for budget OSx86. mistily
Hello, I have Asus P5GZ-MX too, but I encountered difficult of building Max OS X on it. My CPU is Pentium D 820 2.8GHz with integrated VGA, SATA HD and Windows Server 2003. I tried to install "JaS.10.4.8.Intel.SSE3.Only.Install.DVD.iso" mounted by Daemon to a virtual machine on VMware. But I even can't enter the installation process successfully, everytime I entered "any key" to start the install, a gray screen appears with a center apple mark for less than one second and just restart immediately. Could you describe more information for your equipment ? Like ram size, SATA or EIDE HD, PS/2 or USB keyboard and Mouse, MAC OS distribution name and it's native installation or builds on VMware. Thanks for your reply, it could be helpful for me. MacMan2007
Does the onboard video work on it as well? Another question, did you try overclocking the 4300? Thanks! moarfish
Does the onboard video work on it as well? Another question, did you try overclocking the 4300? Thanks! The onboard video works perfectly. You just have to click GMA950 support during the JAS 10.4.8 installation. I did not overclock the E4300. If you want to overclock the E4300, do not choose this mobo (It run very fast without overclock indeed). This mobo only support 800FSB which is not good for overclocking. However, it is the best budget OSx86 I've built so far.(If you do not require overclock) Hello, I have Asus P5GZ-MX too, but I encountered difficult of building Max OS X on it. ssp
also try the uphuck 10.4.9 install... works fine with the above listed audio and network card patch. just can't seem to get the thing to sleep. also used the same install on Presario C508us Compaq laptop. took out the bcm4311 wireless board and it works just like an apple laptop. use a belkin usb stick for wireless with added driver "ZD". The built-in wireless card in the compaq's makes the laptop to hang on shut down or sleep. remove it and all is well...
