Maximus Arelius
I have Mac OS X 10.4.8 installed on a Nvidia Geforce 5500 FX with Quartz Extreame & Core Image supported and for some reason when i play DVD's they run choppy and slow is there a way to fix this with some kind of terminal command or something? For the most part im really enjoying having Mac OS X on my PC and i just got a 22" Widescreen monitor and i would love to be able to watch movies on it! If anyone has any info on this please let me know thanx. ~1~ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/52374-quartz-core-image-kinda-slow/ Share on other sites
Jeezoflip
Well it has to do with a lot. Your card, your card ram, your card interface (pci, agp, pci-e). It also has to do with what resolution you have on your monitor. You said you have a 22 inch monitor. Im sure its on a big resolution. So who knows? Maximus Arelius
i have a Nvidia Geforce 5500 FX PCI 256MB of RAM with a resolution of 1680x1050 set on my monitor. Does yours run slow when u play DVD's cause i was looking at your specs (very good by the way). Do u have the same problem? BlackCH
Sounds like you're running a SSE2 processor. Seems that OSX DVD player uses SSE3 a lot, therefore if you have an SSE2 cpu you'll get choppy video output due the SSE3 kernel emulation.....
