youthBYTES
My Goal: Xp/Vista/OSX tripple boot (with or without Acronis OS Selecter) My Setup: Primary: 160 GB Seagate SATA 1.5 gb/s Secondary: 200 GB Maxtor SATA 1.5 gb/s The primary drive contains a loan installation of XP, it was far too full for a partition. So I partitioned 33.2 GB of the secondary drive to hold vista (simply wanted to install it and see it, no real intention to use it for real). Then to use OSX I had planned to used the remaining 156 GB of the drive NOW I followed the guide found at: http://www.profit42.com/index.php/2006/12/...ot-on-intelamd/ to install OSX. I followed its directions exactly, as for the installing of OSX, I simply did it with XP instead of vista, this seemed ok to me...The Image i used to install OSX was titled Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1].iso and contained 4.37 GB. From the thread in which i got it, it was stated this was patched by JaS for installation on non-mac computers. I burned this to a Verbatim DVD-Recordable 4.7 GB 16x Certfified at 16x. It burned fine, so i inserted it and rebooted. The install process began, and it went just fine, until when to select the drive, I saw no drive. NOW I tried to install about 2 more times before I figured out how to reformat it to MAC OS X Extended (With Journaling) from within the mac utilities menu, speaking of which, what is journaling? So after this I went back into the Installer, selected my newly formatted drive and began to install. It all went fine, and it was time to reboot. I clicked "Reboot", booted into XP, and the secondary drive with my 156 GB on it was still empty???? Any ideas?
nendra
Have you tried to boot into OSX ? AFAIK XP won't be able to read HFS+ partition so it may say something like partition empty/unrecognized as for Journaled filesystem, wikipedia and google are your firends.... As for the XP seeing nothing at all it's FEATURE (no support for HFS+)
Ironman273
I have pretty much the same issue. I have an Acer Aspire 9410Z laptop with Vista Home Premium. I followed the exact same instructions youthBYTES did and partitioned 30Gb for the OSX install. I used uphuck 10.4.9 ver 1.3 to install and also had to format the partition with Disk Utilities during the install. The install seemed to go flawlessly until it asked to reboot. The instructions said it would boot back into OSX and the only way to get back to Vista was to repair the Vista installation. Well, it rebooted right back into Vista like nothing happened. There's no option to boot into OSX since it seems that the computer is seeing the Vista boot as the main one and not bothering with the OSX boot. Any help would be appreciated! Ironman273
I think I made some headway. Even though I was booting into Vista my bootloader was still messed up. I did the steps to restore the bootloader and got to the part where I have a boot menu that includes OS X. When I chose OS X it booted to the gray Mac screen, then it went light blue (which I think is a background) and then nothing. I'm assuming I didn't install the right things the first time but at lease both systems are available. I'll play some more tomorrow.
