No, Oceania is the name of a collective landmass, similar to Eurasia, Eurafrica or America (in reference to North and South combined). It is not a continent.

Australia is a continent on its own (and is the smallest in the world). It is a part of the Oceanic region.

Also, Central America is not a continent. Central America, like Oceania, is just a term to describe a landmass.

I would assume that most of the people who voted Oceania are from Australia or New Zealand however, as most places in Oceania are tiny islands without internet access :tomato:

Edit: gwprod12... I can forgive you seeing as you're American. Citizens of your country do seem to, stereotypically, suck at geography outside your own borders

Time to settle this....

Ok, if we say there are *7* continents.

That is: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.

Ok, arguement settled, poll officially incorrect :tomato:

The point I was making is that Australia is already accounted for by a choice on this list. You may not like that choice, but if you asked an Australian whether they lived in Antarctica or Oceania, Oceania would be the more correct answer.

As to Americans being stereotypically ignorant... Latin Americans are stereotypically poor and uneducated. Indian people stereotypically burn the living and consume the dead. Jews stereotypically do not eat pork, black people are stereotypically criminal... The english stereotypically have bad teeth and the french are stereotypically rude. Italians are stereotypically papists and Muslims are stereotypically terrorists. Isn't it grand when people decide that their stereotypes are fact instead of self-serving delusion?
