johnnybluejeans
My first question is this: I have a working version of OSx86 inside of VMware using the xplodenet instructions. Can I move this over to a new partition and dual boot, just as those folks who have been doing it with the "flat" image?.. or is there something special about that image that makes it usable for native installs? Second question: Has anyone used Partition Magic to help them out with the dual boot method? Seems like an easier way to partition your Windows disk without losing data and whatnot. Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/509-from-vmware-to-dual-boot/ Share on other sites
jamesia
I used BootIT NG to shrink down my Windows partition and create a space for osx86. If you happen to use it, make sure you don't install it on your hard drive (ie, hit cancel when it asks to install, and you'll be taken to maintanence mode). I used it because it's easy and doesn't require installation on my disk. I don't know anything about xplodenet's method. I used the flat.img file and dd'ed it to the new partition via Ubuntu LiveCD. johnnybluejeans
Interesting. Did you have to make it a 6GB partition? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/509-from-vmware-to-dual-boot/#findComment-3563 Share on other sites
