sweatyfish
I downloaded the "Windows" driver for my LAN from machspeed.com I have the Matrix P4M9MP. I unzipped the package and inside there is a folder labeled "OSX" along with all the other Windows and Linux drivers. Inside the OSX folder there is a .dmg file and a text file with instructions. My question is, could this driver possibly work? Why would Machspeed even have a driver for OSX? Maybe the are supporting the Hackintosh scene? Please, no jokes about my cheap mobo...it just happened to support all the peripherals I needed at the time.
sarahbau
What is in the dmg?
sweatyfish
It's called "fetmacx.dmg" Edit: Hold on let me check.... Inside the .dmg is a .pkg When I double click the .pkg it brings up an installation setup window for the LAN. What I am concerned about is will this work since mine is a hackintosh? I would hate to crash it due to this
Oracle67
Right click "show package contents" or use "Pasifist" to see package contents. This one "Realtek 8139 PCI Card" it works if the onboard one refuses.
sweatyfish
Im gonna just go for it. Break eggs, right? But thank for the tip, if this fails I'll be sure to look into that card.
sarahbau
It seems really weird that there would be Mac drivers for your motherboard. lol. The only thing I can think of is maybe they sell PCI network cards, and they just have the same download package for their network drivers no matter who's downloading them. sweatyfish
It worked! Fully functional Mac! Booyah! It seems really weird that there would be Mac drivers for your motherboard. lol. The only thing I can think of is maybe they sell PCI network cards, and they just have the same download package for their network drivers no matter who's downloading them. Yeah, cause the Read Me says to remember the PCI slot that it is installed on. But....It worked!
