Hi

I'm encountering problems when I'm triing to install the Mac OS 10.4.8 JAS release on my Notebook.

After a few minutes after booting with the DVD, before any installation dialog shows up, the system halts.

Booting with -v gets the following error messsage:

> .. launchend: Server 0 in bootstrap 1103 uid 0: "/usr/sbin/lookupd"[85]: exited abnormally: floating point exception

> .. launchend: Server 0 in bootstrap 1103 uid 0: "/usr/sbin/configd"[31]: exited abnormally: floating point exception

> .. launchend: Server 0 in bootstrap 1103 uid 0: "/usr/sbin/notifyd"[36]: exited abnormally: floating point exception

> .. launchend: /bin/sh on /etc/rc terminated abnormally. going to single user mode

I tried different releases (JAS, myz, 10.4.6. 10.4.8) but its always the same.

My Notebook is an AMD 3000+ with 512 mb Memory, Ati Radeon mobility 9600 (64mb) and 40gb HDD. (currenty winXP installed)

Does anyone know a solution for this?

thanks for any ideas!

hi

I tried to install "Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso" from DVD+R to !native!.

1) I boot from the DVD with "-v"

2) Darwin is loading ...

3) after 2 Minutes the error message above appears (before I can do anything -- I don't get a GUI)

My Notebook is a Yakumo Q8M Power64 XD (2003) with an AMD 3000+ (Clawhammer) including SSE and SSE2.

I attached the CPU-Z report. Hope it will help.

additional hardware is:

- 512 mb RAM

- Ati radeon 9600 mobility 64mb Ram

- 40 GB Seagate ST94011A HDD

- Toshiba CD/DVDW SD-R6472

- noname Sound (AC97)

- noname Ethernet (Via-compatible fast ethernet)

thx

It is a good notebook with the ability to run osx86.

Lets start from the early begining:

Disable S.M.A.R.T. from Bios

Set boot order from bios.

Boot and hit any key (dont use -V) and wait -sometimes to 10 min- to go itself to crash reporter part.

Post results.

my notebook bios-settings are very limited, i can't disable SMART.

But I think it isnt enabled ... boot order 1) cdrom 2) HDD 3) Floppy (which I dont have)

I took 3 photos of my results...

1.jpg: after booting from DVD (without -v !) --> 4th line from bottom "unable to mount /dev/disk0s1 .." (?!?!?)

2.jpg: short time after, the gui starts to load, I see a cursor

3.jpg: gui unloads and a errormessage (first post) appears on the screen

... nothing happens then.

thx

Hey I'm getting the exact same error on my other PC, which is an AMD Athlon 64 / 3500+, 512MB RAM, ATi X800 GTO PICe.

Please people if anyone care to give a solution for this, it would be awesome.

Version 10.4.1 (Developer) runs great on this system, but any version after that has this problem that .sonix described.

Thanks!

...without hard drive it is unable to install.

Thats the problem.

It is a problem mostly with sata drives but your HD is IDE...i buypass the problem on my one using the drive like external FireWire and then placed back in its slot.

I dont guarante results for your hardware.

don't have a FiWi case...

I tried installing again with my NTFS Partition deleted.

Now the "unable to mount /dev/disk0s1 .." error message don't appear anymore, but it doens't work.

Same error as in the 1st post.
