frams22
hi,i just purchased a used macbook from ebay without a o.s. i soon found the original intel macbook install dvds on ebay and purchased those also.i just got it today and tried to install it,but it told me it cant install it. shouldnt the install dvds be universal?iam certain that its the right one.the only other thing i can think to do is too download the mac os x86 version, and maybe try to install it on there.do you think it will work?thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/50315-install-osx86-on-a-intel-macbook/ Share on other sites
sarahbau
I don't think osx86 would work on the MacBook. It's made for a PC with a BIOS. Are you sure you have the install DVD for a MacBook and not a MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iMac, or Mac Mini? The restore DVDs Apple ships are meant to only install on the computer they were shipped with. It's to prevent people from using that DVD to install on their computers running an older OS. Since you bought the DVDs on ebay, you probably can't get your money back. I believe you can get the original restore DVDs from Apple for about $20 though.
