dsc106
I am trying to enable QE/CI on my XFX nvidia 7800gt 256mb PCI-Express. I have the Natit 1.0 pkg installer that I used. Currently I can change resolutions/refresh rates/colors... but no QE/CI, and I am getting less than ideal performance with video playback, etc. Anyway, I was trying to follow the instructions here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=35422 and it says to: Put your device id into these three kexts: - GeForce.kext - NVDAResman.kext - IONDRVSupport.kext But I am looking in /System/Library/Extensions and while I see the last two, I do not appear to have a GeForce.kext... like I said I just used the natit 1.0 installer. My OS is JaS 10.4.8 and I did not install any of the nv40 driver support or anything during install, since I have a GeForce 7 series and I didn't think that was an nv40 series?? (is it? Should I have installed this during install? If so, can I just boot from the DVD and add it in?) Please help me, not sure why I don't have that GeForce.kext file and I would really like to get QE/CI up and running. Thanks for your time! four!
your "Geforce 7 Series" is an NV40.....Reinstall and select the NV40 Package...I did and I didnt need to install titan or natit. QE and CI out of the box but it says "Unknown Geforce" which doesnt bother me because it works fine. Geforce 7650GS isnt really a standard geforce card you can buy off the shelf anyways
dsc106
Well I found a GeForce.kext under the folder "Backup Extensions" - should I be able to just move that into extensions? or do I need to reinstall?
four!
move it and put your device ID in the Info.plist file
dsc106
Well, easy fix. Turns out with a fresh install and just selecting the nv40 titan support in the installer, my card worked with everything right of the box... awesome!

thefinalprophecy
How do you add a device ID? please be specific because I have never done this before. I tried opening info.plist wit Text Editor but i don't see a line for device ID. My card is on the HCL on the wiki under Titan. I have the XFX Geforece 6800XT PCIe 256mb, and it is on the Asus P5w DH Deluxe. from the titan wiki: VGA/DVI ports work. Added DeviceID to NVDANV40Hal.kext and NVDAResman.kext. Drop Titan.kext into /System/Library/Extensions/, repair permissions and re-boot.
