InflatableMouse
Hey all, Let's say I'm able to buy a mac pro without HD's, videocard and memory. can I put my 7600GT PCI-E, 2x320GB SATAII HD's and 2x1GB DDR2 in there? Does the Mac pro work ONLY with ECC or would it accept non-ECC? Thx!
u1m2
to buy an X1900XT 512MB and flash with the rom of the mac version is your best bet in my opinion. strangedogs forum will be of help on this matter. you can't use your mem as it needs fb-dimm memory which is expensive but the hdd's should work. InflatableMouse
well thats the point I don't want to buy another videocard I want to use the 7600GT I already have, if possible. The memory I understand, but still I can get 2x2GB ECC fb-dimms from corsair for roughly 440 euros instead of the insanely expensive 680 euros for the extra 3GB from apple (in which case I will get 4x1GB). That should work right? The whole point here is of course saving money where possible.

I have no idea when it comes to the video card, but there should be a way. BTW, where do you buy a "Baremetal" Mac Pro from?
