I have just got done installing 10.4.8 JaS and for some reason my resolution is set to 800x1280 when it should be 1280x800

I have tried editing the boot file to change it to 1280x800 but that does not work.

What else can I try? Also my mouse is invisble so it takes me forever to change any settings. So if anyone knows how to fix that let me know. I feel like I need to try different drivers but I don't know hwo to change them.

Is there a terminal command for changing resolution or does it have to be done on reboot?

I also just put <string>1280x800</string> not 1280x800x**</string> because I don't know what ** should be on my Asus W7J laptop.

thanks for any help

At the Darwin boot prompt, enter this (including the quote marks):

"Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32"

See if that changes the resolution. However, I would install the graphics card drivers for it. I recommend Natit :D

well I'm going to give natit a run but internet isn't working plugged in or wireless. I guess I'll see if a thumb drive will work.

How do I get to the Darwin boot prompt. I've done a few google searches but can't find it anywhere?

what's your video card?

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400

Ok so I haven't done anything and I just rebooted and my mouse is showing up now and my entire screen is turned sideways.

EDIT: Ok I just installed mobility Kext and rebooted and the screen is now flipped the other direction. The apple menu bar is now on the left side instead of the right side. Wow this is weird.

well I got the video working with Natit's nvidia package. All video features are working great! My mouse even decided to show up. My only problem is I can't get dualboot to work. I have tried chain0 manually editing bcd using bcdedit and easybcd and niether work at all. When I select Mac OSX from the vista bootloader it just says it can't find the file \nst\mac_mbr.something or if I try to change the path to \chain0 it says it can't find the file. My chain0 folder is located at c:\chain0 of my vista install. Is their another program I could use that will just make the bootlloader work? I don't really want to do the darwin loader but would like a menu without hitting buttons. Can I use Wingrub with just vista and osx? Or partionmagic's bootmagic to do this?

just try tboot! and also type the code below. useage is as "chain0", you know it!

C:\tboot="Mac OS X"

I am having the same issues on my Asus z71v. I am able to dual boot using Acronis, i tried several other free/shareware versions with no luck. The chain option I had tried last year when I rean 10.4.6...never had it working.

I just barely got my ethernet card working by installing a skge.kext.02d.zip found on http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/3rdPartyDrivers

I hope this natit works for me ..video issues been driving me nuts, i have to boot it about 4-5 times to finally come up correctly with mouse showing. Usually i get a real narrow screen w/mouse, next a dock is on left w/mouse then dock on right w/mouse then regular w/no mouse. sometimes this order changes but seems pretty consistent.

After i deal with the video on to figure out the speed issues. very laggy at this time and i have a 2ghz w/ 2gig ram, 128 NvidiaGo 6600
