nimb0z
Hello, I recently downloaded the osx 10.4.9 using software update and it messed up everything. Systems boots till "Loading Darwin" a blue screen and restarts again.. I read the guide to fix, and I could do those steps from ubuntu, but the hfs partiion is just read-only in ubuntu, I can't creaete folder or rename or move. Any solution to this? domino
Run a search on UID, os x, permissions. or you can: sudo nautilus That will give root access to nautilus (under gnome) to be able to read/write on your hfs partition/drives. domino
I can't recall if the livecd allows you to sudo. if it does, you should not get an error message and a new window should open. try it and post back the error message in gnome terminal. nimb0z
on typing sudo nautilus, a window opens that has "root - File broser" in title bar. domino
on typing sudo nautilus, a window opens that has "root - File broser" in title bar. that's God mode so be careful! good, now assuming that ubuntu auto mounted your OS X disk, just browse to it. You should be able to edit the content. if not, then hfsutils isn't installed. apt-get hfsutils and you don't need to restart. If you're in feisty livecd, you should be able to already read hfs partitions. you need to be root or sudo to access, write, or move files and folders. I know these instructions might be a little vague, but if you google enough, it's not hard to find more info with accessing files in hfs partitions.
