rgb Posted April 20, 2007 Share Posted April 20, 2007 Hi I have make a 4gb ram machine. The system profiler shows i installed 4gb but in the activity monitor, it shows only up to 3gb. Is there any problem using 4gb ram? Maybe you should go into your bios and search for memory hole or so....in case you have not done yet. There you "tell" the bios how to handle more than 3GB ram. Do you have any Windows installed too ? See there your 4GB or not ? But you should use a 64Bit Windows version or any server Windows to get it working. I have under XP prof (32bit) 3GB, under Vista Ult. (32bit) 2 GB and under XP prof. 64bit the full 4Gb Ram. Hope it'll help ya. Maybe you have to use another bios feature too. Do you see 4GB when you switch on your PC in the pre-post, there where you read your CPU, HD's etc. This ist my 2nd "PC" where I have 4GB installed and OSX was the only OS that alwasy worked fine with my installed 4 x 1GB Ram.
