mac.nub
Beleive it or not, the recent BIOS revision to fix the "Vista" problems with Dells... has also fixed (some) Core Duo issues when running Mac! After upgrading to the latest BIOS (Revision A14), and using the CPUS=2 bootflag to boot into Mac (overiding my com.apple.boot.plist setting) though it still has a somewhat "jittery" start, Mac now boots and loads sucessfully - as a test I had the system running (though not actually doing anything much) for 30 minutes with no crash... My hardware overview displays the following about my CPU: CPU Type: Genuine Intel® CPU T2050 @ Number of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.6 Ghz L2 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB And so on... About This Mac displays the following information... Processor: 1.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo Memory: 1 GB 533 Mhz DDR Startup Disk: Mac OSx86 Granted performance is still jittery with both cores, and setting FSB, idlehalt, fn etc. will stop it from loading... but at least it's a step in the right direction!
