VrXj
I tried to install from the JaS OS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 DVD today, using minimal options (only the Intel one for my CPU) It fails when trying to install the Semthex kernel. The log shows Child exited with status 1 buffer overflow. That's all. HW: Dell Inspiron 8600 Pentium M 2GHz 1GB DDR RAM ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 128 MB 80GB Toshiba HDD Any help would be appreciated. It might be related to bad DVD-media, I had alot of problems with just that, I tried to burn the image at lower speeds, but I ended up bying myself a couple of good Verbatim Axo DVD-R. that worked for me, But now I install from harddrive, So I dont have to think about burning those damn DVDs. VrXj
Tried other DVD media at lowest speed, still the same. Tested on other PC same thing. It installs when i do not select the Intel kext patch, but then I have the ACPI thing when i boot, what more topics are about Is there no way to apply the intel patches manually when booting into shell from the DVD or something? P.S. I can't install from HDD, because it's a laptop and i use the whole disk. Or is there still a way?
spartango
try using an external dvd drive on usb. Also, your media will surely need a change just to be safe. If neither work then get another disk. When you do install, make sure you patch for sse2, because you dont have sse3.
VrXj
How can i choose sse2 only? I only see the choice between Intel and AMD kext. I have no usb dvd drive
