Alex Tracy
I was planning on getting a 20 in imac for the boost in performance but I've been readinng on some forums about how the bigger screen demands a more powerful graphics card, and that the more powerful card in the 20 in might not be enough. Does that mean that the 17in imac performs better but the 20 in looks better? Thanks in advance. I was kinda hopping that the 20 in would be much better all around will playing games. Especially world of warcraft. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48556-17in-vs-20in/ Share on other sites

Fossie
There is no difference in the graphics card used in the 17" and the 20". They both use the mobility x1600. The 24" uses a 7300 or a 7600gt. fobis
The only way that there will be a difference between the 17" and the 20" iMacs in terms of fps is if you have different hardware setups (aside from the display); that is, if you run the particular game at the same resolution. If the 20" has a higher native resolution and you choose to play your game at that resolution, then the game will run slower on the 20" than if you ran the same game on the native resolution of the 17" (given that the two have different native resolutions).
