I know this is a strech but, are parallel ports supported in osx86?

Because i have an old HP Laserjet 6P printer that i was using via parallel port in wndows, but, it's not showing up.

So should i go look for the parallel to USB converter i have somewhere, or will i get lucky with the parallel port?

Even back in the dark days before OSx, before Intel, Macs never had a parallel port, so no - unless someone writes some special purpose software that would control your printer, but appear to the Mac as a printer (read very unlikely), you will not be able to use the parallel port printer...

yea, i've been told that by my friends who have been using macs since the begining. i never really had any real hope that it would be supported, just a sliver of some.

I bought a decent USB to Parallel adapter and use it together with the "Project Gutenberg" drivers to print on my old HP LaserJet 4P and it works flawlessly!

i found my usb to parallel converter, its a keyspan one, i couldnt find drivers for it, but ill search for the "Project Gutenberg" you mention, thanks.

The Project Gutenberg files are actually printer drivers. I didn't need any kind of software/drivers for the adapter cable itself.

Cheers,

well HP has universial binaries drivers for my printer, so i just downloaded the offical ones from them, i just can't seem to get the converter working right now
