Hi, I'm a total noob to appling a pc. I just have one question (for now). Is it possible to install OS X onto a PC (taking into consideration that I have all the system requirements, items for installation, etc.) without a Windows partition?

Thanks in advance.

it is possible, i got a new Harddrive for my hackintosh laptop recently, i installed osx86 on it with no windows, used a partition magic boot disk to partition the drive first because the disk utility on my install dvd doesnt seem to partition right (JaS 10.4.6)

i had planned on installing windows after...but, os x is just too good.

Hmm..... I just did this on one of my old dell desktops....

The installer automatically reset after installation was complete, but now it wont boot! Can anyone give me some help?

There's no BSOD, just a blinking underscore at the top of the page.

Hi Stevie:

I have been running OSx86 on my Home PC and Work PC's for several months. I use OSx86 at home most of the time, and OSx86 at work when I can (I used to edit and enlarge our logo today). The best way (I think) to start installing Mac OS X is to install on separate (empty) hard drive. Once you have successfully booted off OSx86 DVD-ROM, use Installer - Disk Utility and create one partition (or two if you want to dual boot) to install Mac OS X. I've found the Hardware Wiki on OSx86 Project Page (http://wiki.osx86project.org) very useful for my installs. Simply select the version (10.4.x) and the hardware you are using. I used the Hardware Wiki to custom build my OSx86 Home PC! I'm partial to Myzar 10.4.6 because it seems to work with the hardware at home and work that I use.

Good luck!

Can you give us some more info on your install? Version and make of DVD-ROM? (Ex: Myzar 10.4.6) Model and Specs of Dell? (Ex: Dell Dimension with GeForce MX 4400).
