You can either use something like SuperDuper to create a bootable backup to a seperate HD, or you can use iBackup to backup individual elements of the OS.

There's a good tutorial at Mac Apper that you can find here. (Note that as of the time of this post, MacApper was down!)

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

For the system re-install, I use the MacOSX 10.4.3 (v. 1111) Install DVD. Is the single that permitting me the option "Archive and Install". Then I will remove the /Previous System folder and upgrade to 10.4.8 and 10.4.9.

When i reinstalled, i booted with 10.4.8 DVD then deleted /System and /Library folders in terminal... it would not allow me to install 10.4.8 over 10.4.9 otherwise...

When installed i just type same username as i had before and it told me that this user folder already exists and if i want to use it...yes

And voila new install with all progs and settings exactly same as before...

Your preferences are stored in /Users/yourname/Library

System prefs are reinstalled to /Library ...

You can even make /Users folder on a different partition or disk and make symlink for it after fresh install... works no problem :thumbsup_anim:
