Did you see the Maxxuss home page and some of the discussions about PAE?

Yes, I believe this has been fixed with the 1.1a patch.

From what I've checked, PAE isn't native on my CPU and/or motherboard, but the newest patch makes it work somehow. Other users are reporting that their CPU doesn't support PAE, but OS X says its enabled.

It did take like over 1/2 hour just to get into the installer, though.

Downloading the new patch now.

I'm guessing that even though all modern CPUs supposedly support PAE (according to Maxxuss), it won't be enabled unless required (ie. you install more than 4gb of RAM) which could be causing the problems. Whereas perhaps the newer x86-64 processors (Intel 5x1, 6xx, 8xx, AMD Athlon64, Opteron, Sempron64) always enable it by default as they support it natively?

I have a Northwood P4 (no SSE3 or XD or EM64T). Natively booting the patched DVD causes the PAE reboot problem, and mounting the patched ISO with D-tools and booting VMware off it causes a "kernal stack fault" (the VM crashes) a few seconds after booting. I'll try the latest 1.1a patch and let you know how it goes.
