seclusion
I have burned a bunch of dvd's, dvd-r, dvd+r using Alcohol, nero etc. burned slow, fast, verified iso and the burn. I can't get past this install point. Goes to the grey screen after asking to boot osx from dvd. goes through a bit, then I get a black dialog box saying. "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button or press restart" In a bunch of languages. I'm using a Sony DVDr in ide, a blank hd I setup from my Mac G4 extended, journaled in ide and a blank sata drive al ready to abuse. Mobo is a AsRock 775Dual VSTA (865) with a C2D e6400 not overclocked. OCZ Ram ddr400 2 sticks 1 gig each. Ide drive is a IBM deskstar 40 gig, tried a seagate 30 gig as well. Sata drive is a seagate sata 2 320 gig. Any thoughts on how to get past this error. Read through alot of posts, didn't see this one. Thanks, I'm redownloading the file again to make sure it's not messed up, even though it passed verification on 3 different burners. Thoughts? ing
it worked when i installed it last year on an amd 64 2800 (sse2) but i tried it yesterday on my amd3000 which has sse3, it gave me the same error you get. it mentions acpi on the top and ip:0.0.0.0, mac address 00.00.00.00.00 something something. ill note it down the next time. ive been trying to find a fix for this problem, some say that i have to select "custom install", but i dont think i see that anywhere. also i think the one i have is 10.4.3 build 8F1111A, and its installation guide is missing from the internets >.< here are some details: 10.4.3 build 8F1111A dvd amd 64 3000 on an asus a8n vm csm i have some empty partitions made, but they are all ntfs (could this be it? i cant remember how i installed it last year) -- edit this is what i get: unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI". ethernet mac address: 00:00:00:00:00:00 ip address: 0.0.0.0 waiting for remote debugger connection. kdp_poll. no debugger device Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47845-grey-screen-system-must-be-restarted/#findComment-344676 Share on other sites
