rjtd
Greets, I'm trying to go native with my centrino. All I got is a gray screen, with the a spinning progress monitor. That spinning progress stops after some time, and the boot hangs. It hangs just when he is entering graphical mode. At verbose, it hangs after loading AppleTrackpad or AppleACPIDisplay. I already tried deleting it, but no go. Also deleted ATI drivers, still no go... And also -x, or platforma=x86pc or platform=acpi. It boots fine from vmware, even if I boot the same physical partition that I'm using to go ntaive. My laptop is: ASUS W3N Ati 9700 mobility 1GB ram 1.6 Pentium-M *EDIT* I see this error: Cannot take ownership of EHCI controller. ftd
Hi there, at last someone with an ASUS-Notebook. Mine hangs either at display: family specific matching failed or at VGA: family specific matching failed. I think it's about that damn crappy BIOS ASUS implements in its Notebooks (ever tried to get ACPI to run under Linux? ) Well, i'm close to giving up, but if you have ideas, i'd be happy to hear about it. All things i have tried so far: using deadmoo image running in -x -v platform=X86PC "Graphics Mode"="1400x1050x32" deleting TPMACPI.kext adding vendor- & device-ID to ATI9700.kext deleting ATI9700gl... nothing worked... Asus M6800N 1,5GHz Pentium M Banias 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (M10), SXGA+ Display Broadcom Gigabit LAN *EDIT* @rjtd: The EHCI is part of the USB-System. Try plugging out all of your USB-devices! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/478-help-mac-on-asus-laptop/#findComment-17202 Share on other sites

mactogo
I've got an S1n running using platform=x86pc but can't boot with platform=acpi. I suspect it may have something to do with bios. ASUS support has stopped releasing bios updates for my notebook since 2003! ftd
HEUREKA! I got it working! I deleted AppleFPMemDriver.kext and now it runs fine with ACPI and without -x. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THOSE VGA/DISPLAY: FAMILY MATCHIN FAILED My suggestion to everyone who afterwards still has problems: boot into single suser mode (-s) and run kextload /System/Library/Extensions/* and take a look where the system hangs up.
