I used Boot Camp to install Leopard on my iMac (through a series of steps to make the drive Mac Formatted). Now, when I try to use Boot Camp to restore the partition back to the way it was, I get an error saying this:

"THE STARTUP DISK CANNOT BE PARTITIONED OR RESTORED TO A SINGLE PARTITION

The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."

...Anybody know a way around this so that I can restore my original partition without erasing the data on my hard drive?

I had the same problem awhile back. I used Carbon Copy Cloner and cloned my OSX partition and reinstalled everything. Then did a restore using Carbon.

BTW, it backs up everything to an external hard drive and you boot from that hard drive and reimage.
