10.4.3 install on a pc with a PAE, XD and SSE3 capable cpu

according to maxxuss's patch, the mach_kernel is the default

do i need to use "mach_kernel.orig"?

the OS seems to boot faster and easier when i input "mach_kernel.orig" for boot option

in the finder under the mac os x volume, there is 3 other mach kernels, one of which is the mach_kernel.orig

how do i implement that one on every boot?

i appreciate any input, thanks

mach_kernel.orig is for you.

the default is mach_kernel.sse2.

mach_kernel (default): same as mach_kernel.sse2,

mach_kernel.sse2: supports SSE2 CPUs, requires NX/XD CPU support,

mach_kernel.nonx: supports SSE2 CPUs, does not require NX/XD CPU support,

mach_kernel.orig: the original kernel, for use with SSE3 CPUs with NX/XD support.

Question: Should I be able to see all the mach_kernel*.* files on the 10.4.3 (8F1099) DVD patched with the v1.1a Maxxuss patcher? I only see the one file in the root of the DVD (or anywhere on the DVD, for that matter). I wonder because you're supposed to be able to boot from whatever kernel works best for you during the install and if there's supposed to be multiple kernels on the DVD, then I have a bum DVD...
