The Baron
hi, i am trying to install mac using the deadmoo image using the method on: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/964/install..._drives_windows however, when i try to burn tiger-x86-flat.img to my separate hard disk i get this error... http://img475.imageshack.us/img475/2062/helpks5.jpg Am i doing anything wrong? thanks in advance for help That's a really old image you've got. If your machine can run vista, you'd be better off dl'ing one of the newer os x versions - do a search in the usual places for JaS or TubGirl. Danyel
Hi Abhi262: I agree with The Baron, the deadmoo image (10.4.1) is an old and early implementation of OSx86. I have in running on my Dell Inspiron 1150 because I can't adjust the Graphics Memory in BIOS. I would recommend at least 10.4.5 and newer. --danyel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47548-deadmoo-installation-help/#findComment-340620 Share on other sites
Dr. Hurt
Belive me, you do not want to use the deadmoo image. It's very old and most of the new programs crash and refuse to work on it. Just download the new 10.4.8 DVD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47548-deadmoo-installation-help/#findComment-340647 Share on other sites
abhi262
i thought maybe that installing that would be much easier as i tried using a jas 10.4.8 install dvd but it would not boot after i installed. anyway if i managed to get the deadmoo iso working then couldn't i update? anyway, i don't plan on heavily using mac. the only programs i want to work on it are iLife and office mac (and maybe internet) i could still run these with 10.4.1 right? but is there anything i am doing wrong? Danyel
Hi abhi262: I have heard that deadmoo image (10.4.1) works well with VMWare (because it was created from VMWare). To be honest with you, I have not had much success with JaS 10.4.8 either. I got it to boot on my PC, but it did not recognize my Wireless PCI Card (Netgear WG311T) and did not seem to work correctly. My home setup seems most compatible with 10.4.6. I have been installing 10.4.5 and 10.4.6 on several Dell machines without too many issues (Dell Dimension 4600, Dell Inspiron 1300, Dell Optiplex GX-260, etc). --danyel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47548-deadmoo-installation-help/#findComment-340727 Share on other sites
abhi262
so are you saying i should abandon the idea of using the deadmoo image and the 10.4.8 and try 10.4.5/10.4.6? i am happy to try and i have a few spare dvd's. if you recommend, which version? btw i have a dimension 9150 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47548-deadmoo-installation-help/#findComment-340876 Share on other sites
abhi262
i have found a torrent of 10.4.6 and was wondering are there any patches i need to apply to the iso or will it work straight away and do i have to use Vmware or am i free to boot from the disk. thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47548-deadmoo-installation-help/#findComment-341121 Share on other sites
kernalzero
you can't simply update the deadmoo image. Too many things have changed that would need patching, it just won't work. The lowest you can install and upgrade is 10.4.4 but i would still install 10.4.8 some how. maybe download a different install disc or burn the image you have at the slowest speed? did you try booting in safe mode with your current install or maybe verbose mode to see where it freezes?
