Hello, i got one NTFS partition and a mac partition.

Actually i think mac is so good i wanna use the other partition for mac to.

But now the only way to remove that partition and make it available for mac is

to format my whole disk which causes data loss on my already installed mac!

I can also use fat32 but i dont know if thats the right idea.

Can someone give me a tip?

Thanks

If you don't care about the ntfs partition then making it fat32 and then using disk utilities to convert it into hfs will result in you having a second partition: both accessible my OSX.

I don't think there is a more direct way to use disk utilities to convert the ntfs partition into a hfs in one go.

EDIT: This should have been under "Post-Installation Discussion"

Couldn't he just use something like "acronis disk director suite" to resize or delete the partition?

i already did it this way:

I deleted the partition with the windows cd, i made a partition with the windows cd

BUT i did not format, now i went to the osx install, and formatted it as journaled.

Tada!

Still thanks for the help guys!

Why? i got osx already installed its just about an extra partition in my drive

I'm sure he could. I personally have never got around to using that and have only really used Partition Magic. But i think the best thing to use in situations like this would be Disk Utilities (but not sure if it allows formatting of NTFS partitions) or GParted - which is a live CD.

Anyway glad you got it sorted. :)
