Well, my problem started with me trying to install OS X on a G4 gigabit ethernet (500mhz, DP, 512mb RAM). I couldn't get the install disk to work (tried holding c on bootup, option on bootup and selecting the CD in the startup disk control panel). When I tried to run the installer with the disk in, it gave me an error saying that the CD cannot be selected as the install disk (-2).

So, I tried to make it work. I bypassed the startup disk by holding some combination of keys that I don't remember, and I then got a flashing ?/Mac smiley face. Great, now OS 9 won't even boot.

I've zapped the PRAM, reset the PMU, ran reset-nvram in open firmware and still just the flashing ? on startup. When holding option down, there are no startup disks available. All that shows up are the rescan and continue buttons.

I posted this in the OS X section, but I feel it's less of an OS X issue now...help?
