Hi first of all I gotta say you guys are geniuses, now I'm having such a hard time with this Os x86 X 10.4, I can install it fine but when its time to run the Os, it stays there on a blank screen like the underscore just blinking the hard drive doesn't even reads, I've installed it 3 times already same thing, I've tried changing the Hdrive from master to slave and viceversa... no luck, here are my pc specs

Intel P4 HT 3ghz 478 (prescott) SSE3

1ghz ram DDR

motherboard: intel 865PERL

video: ATI radeon 9250

Maxtor IDE 30gb (used for Mac OS)

Seagate 60gb

plz... any help would be appreciated :thumbsup_anim:

Have you tried using the install DVD to boot the system? If that works and OSX comes up, that narrows it down to a bootsector problem.

Are you dedicating the whole drive to OSX, or just a partition? If the partition is too far down the drive, OSX won't boot, or at least it won't in my experience.

PS: that system is almost identical to my old one. If you can get OSX running on that, I'll have to try the same. :thumbsup_anim:

I'm using PATA and I've looked for the AHCI, where can I find that option?

It also said IOATAController device blocking bus, I did a little googling and It said that It could be cause by a usb hub which I had, then I unplugged the Usb hub and the message dissappeared,

I selected the other disk drive I had and Installed it in a partition I had and I was able to see something different, It said loading Darwin -|/-\|- , and then I got a gray screen with like words in English and in Japanese and a big shutdown button on the background, that said restart or shutdown. At top it said something about Panic and something about ACPI, ok what I did is that I erased the whole disk (the 60gb one) and Installed it there

Now I get the same thing as the other drive It doesn't boot, only the "_ " blinking and when I put in the DVD disc it says /com.apple.Boot plist' not found

what I'm thinking is that maybe if I create different partitions and try to install it in the first partition maybe it could work,

when I'm installing it I select an option that says JaS SSe2/SSe3 (it says select this if you have a intel cpu) so that's what I check

Hey, i had just this problem. I installed fine, but the only way to get osx to boot was to put in the DVD and not do anything. The DVD boot menu comes up, counts down 8 seconds, then boots osx off the HDD. If i pressed F8 to get boot options i get hd (111,1) JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3, pressing enter takes me back to the installer.

Also, when i do let it boot from the drive it only gets as far as the grey screen with the apple logo (i understand this is the Darwin loader). It loads for a bit then dies (i'm guessing that that's when it tried loading OSX interface).

Gave up in the end, had to install linux to get grub to allow me to access my windows install cus OSX nuked my boot loader.

I was trying to install on an ASUS m6va laptop

What version of OSX are you using? Which install? Which kernel? And are you correctly figuring your BIOS? Yes, change the settings for your AHCI. Also make sure you have enabled NX (or not enabled as the case may be) Seeing that you get a grey screen with several languages telling you to shut down, sounds like kernel panic. Check your BIOS settings. Try booting with the -v option, see what errors you get. And true, certain PATA's will not load.

i am trying to install 10.4.8. No the message isn't the usual message for reboot . It show me only a stop icon. When i press F8 it does not see my hard disk all thought the installation was successful. I was able to install and work with an older version of mac os (10.4.3)

My pc's specs are

P4 3Ghz HT SSE3

p4p800

Albatron AGP8x 7300gt

IMB hard disk (IDE)

Please help me..

ok Im back, it said something about ACPI drivers not found or something similar when I got the gray screen with the power button on the background and all the japanese words saying to shutdown or press the reset button, but I believe that I need to buy a SATA disk drive in order to get this to work

I got it to work!, but I need to install the drivers for my ethernet card F311 mcphyter, dp838 , anyways this is what I did, I installed linux ubuntu 6.06 from the live cd, created a partition, then I restarted the computer and put in the Mac dvd, selected the partition, erased it, and customized the installation by only selecting the jas SSe2 and SSe3 for intel processors and the ATI agp option and that's it... Im still getting a error message when im starting the Os but It says it wont affect the Os... need to take care of that...

now how do I Install/get the drivers for my ethernet card??

any help would be appreciated
