i'm wanting to build a computer for myself,

based on this article on i-hacked....

i'm a noob, so excuse my being laaaame.

anywho, here's the deal;

when i get a Motherboard, does it come with the

video and audio stuff? are the components to buy

on this list ALL I need for a functional PC?

(as in, to build a pc to support osx86, all i need

is a case, a motherboard, a cpu, memory, a hard

drive, and a dvd drive?)

i already have a case, hard drive, and memory

to work... if you could make some cheap suggestions

for a Motherboard, CPU, and Memory, that would

be great!

also, will an Intel Pentium D, like this one:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...p?EdpNo=1645065

be good enough to run osx86?

thanks! alex

p.s) would this motherboard work?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...mp;Sku=I69-2146

p.s.s) sorry this may have sounded like it was coming from a complete noob!

whoa-oh...

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCLPart

i read that a bunch, but never saw the link you left me...

thanks!

(any other replies are welcome :])

pee ess) i did search for like, 5 hours today - and everything i came to was redundant, and couldn't seem to find anything.... but i appreciate your link a lot, thanks!

ehhhhhhh, i'm really sorry for posting so much on this,

BUT

is all the hardware on that wiki all i'd need to build the

pc --- minus speakers?

alexm54: The page lists the motherboard model number... why not look up the specifications yourself? That is what we would have to do in order to answer your question. In addition to checking what options are included on the motherboard (like sound, network and audio) you should check if the ram you have will work and if the CPU you asked about will fit it.

Realize that article was written in 2005! By now much has changed on the OSX86 side and the hardware that is available. I wouldnt doubt that 75% of what was written in the article is no longer true.
