I had Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) installed on my Macbook before, but since the driver support wasn't quite there yet - i decided to let OS X reclaim my hard drive. Now I'm trying to re-create my 30GB partition but Boot Camp won't let me. It claims it is unable to move certain files and I must format my hard drive in order to resolve this issue.

Has anyone been able to get Boot Camp to create a partition w/o formatting their hard drive?

The drive is fragmented. You've got two options:

Use iDefrag or similar to defrag the disk. Costs money, but is faster than the next option.

OR you could go the long way... Back up your HDD to an image on an external disk. Then boot up from the Tiger install DVD, format, and restore the image WITHOUT selecting the "Erase Destination" checkbox. Free, but takes MANY hours for the back up and the restore.

iDefrag was worth it, i got it from my friend and i just loaded it up and boom, everything worked. what i did before i had that prog was plug an usb hdd drive and dump all of my not essential stuff onto it. it freed up the space needed and removed the fragmented files (since i had the hdd in fat32, defragged in pc) and yeah it worked out. try that if u can't get a hold of idefrag.
