mlmorg
Has anyone tried rewire in logic express 7.2 with reason 3.0.5? I can't seem to get rewire to work, logic doesn't believe I have rewire...all the rewire stuff is grayed out. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46693-logic-rewire-and-reason/ Share on other sites
mlmorg
Nevermind...sorry I got it working, hadn't installed the 7.2.1 update which specifically fixes this problem ha. Now I just don't know how to work it, but at least it is working. Adios. Synthology
Greetings, I have been working on Reason and Logic since G5 and once I went HackMac, the 7.2.1 update, which I must say, is not very well implemented. Ableton Live 5.2 and Reason 3.0.5 work fantastically together. Logic really lags on every part of ReWire, and honestly, this is a Logic issue, not propellerheads. Also, Logic's handling of the stereo channels versus midi note recording is not what I would call user friendly. For best results, in my opinion, both applications should be used separately. Either that or Apple has to step up the ReWire, which in truth will never happen. Apple doesn't see the need to use another application within Logic, especially an app that One Ups a few soft synths in Logic. No argument, NN-XT crushes the EXS24. Scream 4 destroys anything Logic can throw at it in the distortion department. All good reasons to not let Reason 3.0.5 not play well with Logic. In the end, its all about how you work with your applications and gear. For me, Reason for production, and Logic for mixing, mastering and final mixdown. The virtue of living a successful life comes down to 2 things - use Reason and Logic............always. Cheers Prof. Synthology Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46693-logic-rewire-and-reason/#findComment-334236 Share on other sites
mlmorg
Well I like the way you put it...and I agree with you. I haven't used Logic and Reason together ever. I used to use Reason, like you said, for production and Pro Tools for mixing (since I was on a pc) but now that I'm on mac I decided to give logic and reason together a try. I'm not very familiar with logic (and from what I've seen am not particularly wowed, but that's another story) but what I do like is the score feature, even though it takes me forever to write a score with it because it's poorly implemented, but I thought it would be nice to score something out in logic and quickly play it back through reason without having to export and import, etc. Ultimately, I will probably migrate back to Reason fully as a production software and logic as purely mixing...I guess I was maybe too hopeful that apple had created a nice piece of software that worked well with other programs...but, to me, it's looking more and more like a horribly laid out and hard to work product that's only saving grace is that it seems like a very extensive program. Maybe I'm just too used to Pro Tools..but it seems like logic is much more confusing and doesn't have as much to offer (although I've heard the opposite from many people). I will maybe check out Ableton Live and see if I like that any better but for now I think I'll give this Rewire thing a try for a couple of days...then keep trying to figure out all of logics ins and outs (I mean the manual for this program....jeeeeez) Anyway, thanks for the tips. Adios. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46693-logic-rewire-and-reason/#findComment-334244 Share on other sites
