bonbof
Hi everyone, ok, I dare start new topic at last. All I need right now, is to get rid of second multiboot after choosing at AOSS - in Darwin too. I digged Rammjet, dilnalomo, sn8k & cbmkgd threads but I think I`ve missed something. Did copy boot.ini trick - works fine. Copying chain0 does not. Have to use AOSS (& I want to ) x86 - XP - Vista Asus P5LD2-VM got 2 HDDs: 1st SATA - XP -data - x86 2nd PATA- Vista - data - data driven by ITE drive btw: any chance to add some proper icons to AOSS? Can u point me to the right place, please? ...and delete my post if so obvious... cbmkgd
All I need right now, is to get rid of second multiboot after choosing at AOSS - in Darwin too.Which second boot? You mean the darwin bootloader menu?If that is the problem, then check the wiki's Tips and Tricks section, under to know how to control menu; you could put "Yes" to the "Quiet Boot" key. If that wasn't the problem, please be reformulate with more details. Did copy boot.ini trick - works fine.If by that you mean the trick to make aoss recognize vista, then be aware that the latest version of acronis disk director (10.0.2160) should be able to do this without the hack. btw: any chance to add some proper icons to AOSS?That would be my tools/tutorial on how to do this.(for now, use method 3 if you have acronis disk director 10.0.2160) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46342-defcon-1-acronis-oss-polishing/#findComment-332074 Share on other sites

Just in case to get bored AOSS and get rid of `em finally Btw, I`ve mess a bit with Easybcdedit to have triple boot in the first place, maybe answer is here? Thx for AOSS icons tip & the rest Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46342-defcon-1-acronis-oss-polishing/#findComment-332199 Share on other sites
cbmkgd
I guess you installed Vista without hidding XP; in that case Vista's bootloader is taking care of both. A solution would have been to install them independently, so that both Vista and XP don't see each other (at least when installing the second of them). To get out of your situation would require messing around with the mbr and vista's and xp's bootfiles, and possibly later repair osx's own bootsector... I don't know enough about Vista's bootloader to tell you how to modify its situation with certainty... Anyway, nevertheless, here's an incomplete way to turn this around, but you'll have to get more details and assurance by yourself to complete this and prepare for possible problems. Usual blurb: I am not responsible bla bla bla.... And of course backup important irreplaceable files. First, create the Acronis Boot CD (ABCD) from Acronis Disk Director (ADD) if not already done. Then deactivate AOSS. Boot on xp's install cd and repair xp's boot files: go to the Windows XP Recovery Console to do so (check fixboot and fixmbr section in previous link). You should then be booting solely on xp. Boot on the ABCD and load ADD; there, hide xp's partition, and make vista's partition active. Close DD and reboot on Vista's install DVD, and proceed to repair Vista's booting process; there should be some Recovery Console there also (IIRC). (one alternative way with vista's dvd it this article). Hopefully this will restore Vista's booting with bootfiles in vista's own partition, and hopefully without affecting xp's partition. When you've checked that vista works well, reboot again on the ABCD; unhide xp, and reactivate AOSS. Cross fingers and hope AOSS recognizes all three OS's. A possible problem is that osx's bootsector gets corrupted. Usually I've found that AOSS took care of this, and have not experienced this problem using it. Again, I CAN'T guarantee that you won't lose one, two or three of your os'es. Read around for alternatives. Next time you install vista, make sure you really want it to take charge of xp's booting; otherwise, take steps to isolate the installations. Once vista and xp are independent boot-wise, darwin's bootloader could catch both and boot all three. bonbof
'cbmkgd' date='Mar 25 2007, 08:45 PM' post='332372'] I guess you installed Vista without hidding XP.... ..... u are prophet or somethin`? U absolutely right! That`s what I did. 2 months ago. Not even dream of x86 All right, just kiddin` I were on half good way allerady - did use R console from Xp, then Repair from Vista. But don`t hiding Xp get multiboot and lost x86. So, used AOSS and EasyBcd to get back to the point where I am. U think, is it possible to protect somehow HFS+ partition from Vista`s "attack"? That will be the best clue ... Thx for ur patience cbmkgd*. I c u r very busy here... *btw - where is ur nick from? Just curious... -------------------------------------- something wrong with quote editing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46342-defcon-1-acronis-oss-polishing/#findComment-332398 Share on other sites
cbmkgd
Usually I backup my osx partition with trueimage when doing major changes. If something goes wrong, I try to repair osx; at worst, I then restore the backup image. (As for the nick, it's mostly random, really. Not using my usual nick.) Have to finish urgent project now I know, it`s offtopic, but I have to share my joy immediately - just get my ebay US Robotix speakerphone, and find this little thing is a pretty good stereo sound card with speaker & mic build-in, mic mute, vol+/- and minijack stereo/headphone out. Work just great with my SB 6.1 speakers set! Even connected along with still not working here Audigy. Cost me £3,50 total Great thing, for temporary solution. I will to be in touch with u "random" cbmkgd. Ur guides helps me to hone my rig. Many thx. Obviously, the rest of the band too! Hope, I`ll be able to help this forum as u have help me. cbmkgd
Remember to read a bit here and there to complete the guide. There may be simpler ways. (eg, maybe by just moving vista's bootfiles from xp's root to vista's root, and then putting boot.ini, ntldr and ntdetect.com back into xp's root, maybe that could be enough. Maybe. Of course the mbr would have to be fixed, but AOSS ususally does this automatically, when it behaves well. Little experiments, an occasion to learn.) [uSRobotics... still alive? Thought it went belly up, or been bought out. Or was it Lucent? Remembering when its 33Kbps were a reference... da*mn expensive too...] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46342-defcon-1-acronis-oss-polishing/#findComment-332537 Share on other sites

Delete in AOSS Vista pref`s - nothing. All I did not is make mbrfix - too much warnings. Did just Bootfix. I think, I`ll should. But first have to try new AOSS trial. I think, I`ll start lobbing to change EULA and stuff law to legalize x86 - for owners of legal copy of standalone MacOS. I don`t like, when sombody tells me, how do I have to eat secret recipe meal or something. I want to add some spices and ask my friends for dinner US Robotics feels pretty good http://www.usr-emea.com/products/p-voip-pr...0a&loc=unkg And this little thing work really good - with G4 Cube too! (Quite similar size to old eMac mouse ) Did some tests - impressive. Even Garage Band plays nice n` easy. Pitty, does not have MIDI in/out I need em` for my good ol` Yamaha keyboard. Waiting for Audigy solutions. Just were been outbid on Extigy .
