MSI 945GM2-FI works fine with JAS 10.4.8 Intel SE3

Hi ppl,

 

I tried to install OSX 10.4.8 JAS intel only install on this MSI 945GM2-FI mainboard.

 

This is the board that doesn't support Core-cpu's. But it has 4 DDR Dimm-slots (max. 4GB) and has Firewire instead o/t newer version MSI 945GM3 (which only has 2 dimm-slots and no f/w).

 

It's a board with Intel 945G chipset and ICH7.

 

The following is supported.

 

GMA950 = OK

Realtek 8110 LAn port = OK

Firewire = OK

S-ATA HDD =OK

ATA DVDRW = OK

 

I thought that the Realtek ALC880 audio also worked (the back ports seemed to work) the front ports produced no sound.

Didn't see at Audio in but I presume this didn't work.

 

Tried with Pentium P4 630 3GHz and 1GB DDR2 memory (2x 512MB dimms).

 

In fact this board makes a very decent Mac for a good price.

 

Only glitch is that "About this mac" produced an error. This doesn't happen with OSX 10.4.7 or earlier.

 

Tried a few dashboard things and some minor apps. All worked fine.

 

I also installed Vista Ultimate OK on this board (although MSI's site state this board as not-Vista compatible). Occasionally got a message that the videodriver frooze and was restarted (though nothing was noticable except this message). So I guess with a newer videodriver this board runs Vista okay as well. Transparancy worked fine even with the onboard gfx. No problems on OSX with GFX at all.
