been using osx on my amd system for some time now and got it 99% working

cpu: AMD athlon64 3200+ (939) - sse3

mobo: ASUS a8v (via k8t800 pro, vt8237)

gpu: NVIDIA 7600gt agp 256mb (gainward golden sample)

nic: integrated MARVEL yukon 88e8001 1Gbit

audio: integrated realtek AC'97

mem: 2x512 ddr400

hdd: 2xsata 320gb raid - win xp, pata 320gb - osx (all seagate barracuda 7200.10)

dual booting using chain0 method

everything works perfectly (audio, network, qe, ci, q2d, even final cut editing on dual monitor setup) except dashboard (no ripple, but crash)

tried lots of stuff: jas 10.4.8 with natit or titan, tubgirl 10.4.8 natit/titan, tried older versions of some private frameworks but no luck

currently, i'm on tubgirl 10.4.8 with 8.8.1 kernel (using Natit_Dual_v0.02 with nvidia and agp kexts from jas 10.4.8 install dvd)

btw, tubgirl install works faster on my system than jas one (about 15 points in xbench), iCal works out of the box (on jas install it crashes - must use rosetta), also when installing final cut studio and aperture there is no need to use older version of ProKit.framework.

i'm not really crazy about dashboard, but it would be nice if my system worked 100%

anyone with similar problem? is it graphic card? is it chipset?

  • 2 weeks later...

ehm, since noone seems to care i had to do something on my own..

reinstalled using OSX_1048_AMD.iso and upgraded to 10.4.9 using netkas's instructions from his blog (also downloaded amd 8.9.1 kernel and some other files from irc.osx86.hu - room #1049)

that fixed my dashboard ripple thingy, but graphics was slower than before and iCal wasn't working again.

so i downloaded DiaboliK's natit dual installer from http://diabolik1605.com/DHF/index.html - it fixed slow graphics.

yesterday someone PascalW posted an iCal pathcer for 10.4.9 amd on this forum (iCal1049AMDPatch.dmg.tgz)

but i can't find the topic any more to link to it

EDIT: found it! http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=336265

i applied the patcher and iCal works now.

the only new problem i have now is when i change screensavers from flurry to anything else, it crashes system preferences.... i don't use screen savers, but i feel it's got something to do with openGL.

i attached crash log here, so if anyone can help......

am i going to have to figure this one by myself aswell??

c'mon people, unite!
