alvin777
Hi. Is it possible to overclock the Intel E4300 paired with the Corsair PC667 (Value Select) both at 333, making it a 1:1 ratio. With 333 the CPU becomes overclocked at around 3Ghz. If this is possible with this memory, what should the voltage setting be for the CPU, memory and even the PCI-e video card (last priority)? This si on an Asus motherboard chipset 945G. If 3Ghz is not possible how much overclocking is possbiel with this RAM and CPU combo? Thanks for your time. nargot
should be possible as the e4300 is reported to overclock to ~3-3.2 ghz if you havn't got the ram already try and get hold of some ADATA 800mhz ddr2, as it is the cheapest reputable ram around and is faster (thats my plan for a e4300 cpu project atleast) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46053-corsair-pc667-ddr2-value-select-and-intel-e4300-overclocking/#findComment-329612 Share on other sites
alvin777
Thanks for the info. Corsair DDR2 667 (Value Select) is the only type I can find near me (and afford) that I've bought already. Although it seems ok to run it at 333 (half of 677) to overclock the E4300, would it still be as stable? Any voltage setting for the RAM and CPU you can recommend (or even the PCI-e) if it both parts to 333? By the way I will only be using the stock CPU fan. alvin777
E4300 Temperature Hi. After a year or so of contemplating the OSX86 Hackintosh and about a month of intense research and sourcing of parts, I've finally come back to using OS X after more than 2 years of having to use Windows (after the iMac broke) on the PC. It's great to come back to the much easier to use OS X (it's not really easy to use, computers are still too complicated to use, too complicated to fix most of the time). Installing the CPU was the challenging part as I wish the mounting was a lot easier (you had to press hard an align). I had to remount it a few times without really detaching the Heatsink-Fan that high. About the CPU's temperature. We live in a climate that now has a temperature range of 25 - 32 Celsius (77 - 90 F). In the BIOS PC Health on this Gigabyte's GA-95P-DS3 board (stock fan, original thermal compound), the highest CPU I saw was 57 Celsius (132.8 F), lowest was not lower than 51 Celsius (123.8 F). I have not overclocked this CPU on this overclocker's board because of the temperature. When I'm using OS X using the program called CoreDuo Temp (the only one that seems to detect the sensor but is not made for Core 2) on load, using Quake 4, the maximum so far is around 67 Celsius (152.6 F). The programs reading is actually 10 degrees higher at 77 Celcius (170.6 F) but I think you have to subtract 10 fromt his reading, coming out with 67 Celcius- add to the fact that this software is for a Core Duo only. If those are normal temperatures for our climate then I will proceed to overclocking it next. I expect I won't be able to overclock it as high as those who live in cooler areas like North America with stock cooling, though. (By the way, has anyone from Manila, overclocked this CPU using this board yet?)
