Jedisinclair
I could use some input guys... I have an Asus p5gv-mx and 10.4.7 works beautifully... but I had troubles getting 10.4.8 running as smoothly. I've read a lot of posts on here but can't seem to figure it out. Anyway, if I were to buy a different mobo, what would be one of the best to get for ease of use and hackintosh compatability? I want something that just about works "out of the box" with least amount of patches or tinkering. I'd also like a good graphics card because I'm gonna build a dual-boot and need something decent. Thanks a lot for any input. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45975-hardware-selection/ Share on other sites
Bruce Wang
I will recommend my motherboard and graphics card : For MB: 1. All drivers for Jmicron SATA, ALC888 audio and Marvell 88E8056 LAN are available in the forum. 2. Just set ICH8R SATA as AHCI in BIOS, no trouble to install 10.4.8 INTEL SSE3 Only 3. For upgrading to 10.4.9, it uses almost all 10.4.9 kexts, only AppleSMBIOS.kext and IOATAFamily.kext needed to be replaced. (I upgraded via Software Update, just replaced the 2 mentioned kexts before reboot, then it's done. Afterwards, just re-applied all drivers, then everything worked again) 4. It also run great after installed r3d3.kext and 8.9.1 kernel For graphics card: The driver included in JaS 10.4.8 INTEL SSE3 Only just works out of box and works great!
