TheDynamo
Head on over to www.macvidia.com! I now have a fully working DELL XPS M1710 Geforce 7900 GTX go 512mb graphics card working with full QI/CE (whichever way round it is) support ! Aufgedyng
I sure like to know how you did it! I tried to get a 7900 512Mb to work but my hackintosh just froze on startup. I tried just about every modification i could find with the same result, Macvidia included. Changed to a 256Mb and it worked without any problems. I still have my 512Mb card so if you could help me get it up and running a would appreciate it. xgportal
You have to flash your card with a patched version of your version. Head over to the macvidia forums and you'll find a fixed rom there. I can guarantee you that it works!! Hope this helps you. Fry-man22
It would be really helpful and cool of you if you could post a link to where you downloaded the hacked BIOS. I have no problems flashing the card but I can't find the BIOS you referenced posted anywhere. Thanks. Fry-man22
For anyone else with a newer nVidia 512 G71+ GPU go to this thread: http://www.macvidia.com/index.php?option=c...mp;topic=1082.0 If you have an M1710 you'll need to create and account at macvidia (EDIT Turns out it looks like they just hide the link if you aren't registered. Since I directly linked it, it appears to work with no authentication...) and download this BIOS and flash it to your card: http://www.macvidia.com/index.php?option=c...82.0;attach=384 My posts are on page 19 of the thread: * Install NvidiaEFI.kext * Add "0299" in place of the "0290" in the .plist with all the device IDs in NVDANV40 (you'll need to drag this to the desktop and then drop the kext back in and authenticate) * Open terminal * sudo -s * rm /System/Library/Extensions.kext * kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions * Open disk utility * Repair permission on the OSX volume * reboot Cross your fingers... Good luck. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45895-for-all-those-people-with-512-mb-graphics-cards/#findComment-345255 Share on other sites
SA22C
It bears noting that I've used the flash program to update the BIOS on my 7900 GTO, but I didn't need to install NvidiaEFI.kext. I'm using the Natit dual display drivers and they work perfectly. The only caveat is that my TV-out port refuses to work.
