Read or Write Error duting install attempt

ok, im trying to install 10.4.6 on to my dell e1505 laptop, ive succesfully installed it many times before but i picked up a new 160gb serial ATA harddrive and im trying to install it again on to this one.

 

right now ive got 3 blank primary FAT32 partitions i set up with partition magic boot cd.....when attempting to boot from the install dvd im seeing a meesage that reads:

 

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x64, AScQ = 0x00

disk1s3: unsupported mode

 

the it repeats its self over and over.

 

so since ive done this right many times before im assuming theres an issue with my partition set up, same type of harddrive as before xcept its 160gb (old one was 60gb)

 

any help is appreciated, im gonna try deleting all my partitions and trying to install on a completely blank hd in a moment...

seems to work with no partitions set up...so if anyone could shed some light on how to properly set up my partitions that would be wonderfull
