phi
Hey, there is any solution now and no (ICH5/6/7/8R) RAID support under OSX86. There are people who got RAID running, but only software-raid from disk utility or so. They reported no real speed increasement and that its not worth on intel macs. phi
If you don't have drivers for it, what is in fact true, than you won't be able to see this raid, and I think the other drives attached to ICH8R. The OSX86 doesn't know that there is something like ICH8R in the system and there is no possibility to do it. And there is less hope, that Apple will build such drivers. They prefer for years, since the G3s, the ability to make a softwareraid in the disktool without the help of the chipset. The actual hardware they are doing has only one internal HD (notebooks, iMac) and the MacPro has another Chipset (for Xeon) without software raid support at all. They want to sell their external hardware-raid, or external raid-discs like the Lacie you can see in my tag. The only option you have, if you really need a stripe is buying an external raid-case and a FireWire 800 PCI-E Card, and put your discs in it or sell the discs and buy a the FW800 card and this Iomega drive for example. Or other discs in this category. I hope it helps you to understand, that this configuration is a no go situation. Cheers edit: Maybe you can buy a XP and MacPro compatible PCI Express card for internal RAID, you have to google, i found something but only in german Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45643-cant-see-my-raid-from-within-osx-ich8r-and-p5b-deluxe/#findComment-328781 Share on other sites

thefinalprophecy
I believe my Intel DG965WH uses the ICH8R controller too. I know it is not possible to install onto my drive (SATA RAID 0) but if I un-RAID those two drives, will I still be able to install to one SATA drive? candykane
Counsin P5W DH has working raid!!! try the driver here’s a report of SATA raid working with the onboard ICH7R : two sataII matching drives installed onto both orange ports. Jumpers set for “raid0 (fast)” [jp2 only] jmicron controller disabled, sata set to standard (not raid or ahci). No errors on boot. I see 300 GB usable which is just about right for two 160GB drives. i haven’t tested or confirmed this but will try it soon. more info can be found in this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...&start=120# Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45643-cant-see-my-raid-from-within-osx-ich8r-and-p5b-deluxe/#findComment-344397 Share on other sites
