PLmatt91
Actually no, when I popped the DVD into the drive to see it in Windows, I couldn't see what was on the disc. It looked blank. And as some one had posted before, if Windows doesn't recognize the .iso on the DVD, it can work. There should be some stuff (a basic file structure) on there, it just appears that the 4.something gb is nowhere to be seen. Zizou
Jesus christ, lol... Guys, if you're having troubles with burning an ISO to a dvd, I seriously doubt you'll be able to fix the problems you'll face when you actually run OS X (or not..) right click on the .ISO -> Open with *burning program of choice which supports writing ISOs to DVDs* (Nero for instance..) and follow the guidelines.. Use the slowest settings and you'll be fine. After that, just reboot from the newly created DVD, and go face the bigger, more complicated side (problems) of OS X x86. AND IF YOU DID EVERYTHING CORRECTLY BUT STILL FAILED... Use an other OS X x86 ' distro'. PLmatt91
lol, I'm sorry, but I've never burned any thing except a CD with music on it. I'm going to try and do that now then. Thanks for the heads up. Another question though. If I formatted my IDE drive into FAT32, it would be ready to boot from the disc and following instructions, install into it like that? Does it really matter how I have the hard drive formatted at first? Wouldn't OS X installation let me format it again or not? And really, not to get you mad, I don't know how to burn a DVD .iso at a slow speed. I just used Zizou's option and it still brings it to burn at a regular speed... PLmatt91
^^ I know, but could some one at least please show me how to control the drives burning speed. I've wasted a total of 9 DVD's trying to burn all these correctly and none worked. I mean, you expect people to show you how to burn an iso? Are you kidding me or what? USE THE FRIGGIN GOOGLE, or FAQs or wikis... Good lord, people these days are amazing! fine, free tip NERO > OPEN (point at teh iso)> BURN bookmark, there you'll smth like "burn speed" Hey buddy, this is my thread, not yours. Go get your own. And this... What can I say really? Most ridiculous things I've ever bumped into on them forums... lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45622-natively-installing-os-x/page/2/#findComment-328713 Share on other sites

diam0nd
nero drive toolsset it there its in the nero install dir You can't set speed from other nero application, cmon. You can only do it from nero itself, when either doing new burn or opening an image to burn. I reckon the op should dl Alcohol 120%, much better prog. Again, apologies for the dodgy info. Again, apologies for the dodgy info. No problemo. What you said basically was smth like "Go to garage and set the speed you want there, then hop into a car and you'll be able to drive at that speed" %) Well, I personally think that Alcohol is a bit more difficult for burning, since the GUI aint as straightforward as Nero's. But well, its a matter of preference I guess. Other than that, if you ask me, my second favourite method of burning is Total Commander v7pb4 + CD/DVD Burning Plugin 0.9.3 for it P.S. For those interested, latest nero (and its always IS better to use the latest) is Nero Burning Rom 7.8.5.0: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Nero_...Rom/942634103/1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45622-natively-installing-os-x/page/2/#findComment-328899 Share on other sites
PLmatt91
Well, guess what? Turns out the drive on the laptop but I burned the DVD from doesn't have more than one burning speed. I just did the same in my Nero attempting to look how to do the same on the laptop, and it's different. I go to Start -> All Programs -> Nero -> Nero 6 Ultra Edition -> Nero Burning ROM. I press cancel and go to File -> Open. I choose the .ISO and I see that it lets me change the speed on that. I did the same in the laptop but no choice on to change the speed (Settings are the same with laptop and desktop considering Nero settings) I'm going to order a DVD Burner some time this week or next week so I'll have it on my desktop. When I built this rig, I didn't think I needed a DVD Burner, but now I see I do. Sorry for pissing you guys off, I knew something was up but I didn't know this. I'll post back on here when I get a DVD Burner soon.
