Asfar as I know I make the image with Disk Utility then mount it with hdid -readwrite <imagename>

Ok this goes well ....

Now the REAL question ....

Motherboard with ATI Xpress200 chipset SATA M5287 (also devid) from ULI doesnt work straight out-of-the-box. Now I editted /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext/Contents/Info.plist to include device id's etc: 0x528710b9 (under VIA SATA Controller section).

Now I might be wrong, but I assumed that I would be able (after removing /System/Library/Extensions.* and rebooting) to take the Extensions.mkext and stuff it on the dvd image...

Kernel loads etc except for the fact that it cant assign Volumes etc for writing when loading rc.cdrom? trows up some errors and then some more readonly related errors and just hangs.

What am I doing wrong? Probably something fundemental, but if not how do I inculde the AppleVIAATA.kext to the install dvd so I will be able to install on SATA drive ....

Thanks in advance :)

PS: Spilled three empty DVD's trying to get it working .... no luck :P

Maybe I just need to make new image? Stuff AppleVIAATA.kext in there and hope for the best?

sjoer,

We must have the same configuration! I'm also having hard time making the m5287 controller work! I added the id in appleVIAATA kext, but still disk is nowhere to find.

Can u tell where you're at now? I'll post if there's any success!
