oliverstein
Hello, I have the same problem as other have already described : install navtively from dvd on an empty hard drive Jas 10.4.8 from DVD on a dell dimension 8250 (p4 2.53 and ata drive + ps2 mouse and keyboard), everything works fine untill reboot where I have no mouse and no keyboard support, furthermore, the ps2 controller seemed to freeze, because to reset my pc I have to unplug the power cable. First messages I got from the verbose boot are : "apple ps2 controller timeout on keyboard input stream" the same on the mouse and then in yellow "failed to load com.apple.driver.AppleUSBUSHI". I've tried to disable USB in the bios but doesn't change, and I have no usb devices connected. What is strange is that I've read thread on the net where people seems succeed install on a DELL dimension. Other thing is that as I can't use keyboard, even if I boot and access terminal mode, I can't type anything. Any comment, suggestion or similar experience is very welcomed ! hecker
Do you have access to a USB keyboard and mouse? Maybe that could help. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45444-jas-1048-no-mouse-and-keyboard-on-dell-dimension-8250/#findComment-325042 Share on other sites

hecker
Yes. Although normally PS/2 devices are reliable, I have heard/read of some folks having problems similar to yours which makes me think it's worth trying USB. If you don't own an USB KB + Mouse, I would recommend getting the Apple Pro devices. They're really great and not expensive compared to other good brands. hecker PS: If you encounter any problems with the USB devices, you can try toggling the USB Legacy support in your BIOS. oliverstein
Hi hecker and thank's for your suggestions. I've tried today with an usb mouse and usb keyboard (logitech) but that doesn't change nogthing. I've tried even to toggle in the DELL bios "emulation usb" and "enable usb controller" and try also to plug usb devices after boot, but when I come to the tiger 10.4 welcome screen, it ask to plug first a keyboard, and while optical mouse light is on and red, the mouse on the screen is blocked. I still have to unplug the power supply cable after switch off the computer to reset it. I feel like there's an incmpatiblity with some motherboard controller but which one ? If someone succeed with the same model (ie dimension 8250) I'll be glad to hear it.
