Unless you can access OS X partition via Xp or Vista to replace back the old kernel and some other necessary Kexts, then you might get it back. Or, another possible method you may try. Boot with 10.4.8 DVD and replace kernel, AppleSMBIOS.kext, IOATAFamily.kext and System.kext with the one on DVD under Terminal.

He wont be able to get to terminal even -S probably wont work because he does not any longer have a hacked os x kernel on his system...The only way that would be possible is if he updated his kernel and kept the backups in which case he would be able to boot to single user mode and re-install the kernel, AppleSMBIOS.kext, IOATAFamily.kext and System.kext.

I said "BOOT FROM 10.4.8 DVD", then Terminal can be accessed from TOOLS.

I've an access on my OS X partition via vista with MacDrive but I don't know how to change the kernel. What files and folders must I change ??? have you a complete list of them ?

I don't have MacDrive, not sure if it can read OS X DVD. But if it can, copy mach_kernel to the root of your OS X partition and mentioned kexts to /System/Library/Extensions. Don't forget to delete kextcache and mkext in /System/Library. If it can't, get the 10.4.8 8.8.1_nd23 kernel from #kernel @ www.osx86.hu/irc and PM me your e-mail address for the rest kexts. After replacing all the files from XP, you might need to reboot with OS X DVD and use Disk Utility to repair permissions.

Thank U Bruce Wang but I'dont find kernel, AppleSMBIOS.kext, IOATAFamily.kext and System.kext on my DVD Mac OSX :( where can I find them ?

Same here, I have a 12gb partition with Jas 10.4.8 to "try" and error install...

I made an image of it and can put it book via disk utility in 5-6 minutes, only has around 3gb.

Did it 5 times yesterday...tried the tubgirl update, the apple combo, used x2 kernel....nothing worked really,

OK tubgirl was ok but with old 8.8.1 kernel after update to x2 all tilt...another reboot, put image back and

wait for a "better" install pkg for AMD.

If my rig wouldn't run with Vista 64 and Xp64 and OSX 10.4.8 so fine with 4Gb Ram I'd already have sold it to

get an Intel core2duo PC, there are a lot of things easier to manage...
