okay i just wanted to test this out and see if the 8.9.1(beta) kernel is all that cracked up to be....

seems that Semthex is the winner with his ND21 revision in rosetta :P, not by much but alot if your fsb isnt set correctly

heres the the test setup: commmel lv-677 mobo , 512mb ram, c2d t7200 @ 2ghz

8.9.1 kernel stock fsb setting (rosetta): 1001

8.9.1 kernel fsb=166 (rosetta): 1216

semthex nd21 (rosetta): 1223

heres some x86 32bit benches for some comparison:

8.9.1 kernel fsb=166: 2631

nd21 kernel: 2663

Interesting stuff :P

Its important to note that the 8.9.1 kernel does need its fsb set correctly, as it defaults to 137 (~548 quad-pumped), so if anyone is testing it and finding it a bit slow, remember to add the correct fsb= argument to the darwin boot prompt, or com.apple.Boot.plist :)

Just curious - are you trying these under 10.4.8 or 10.4.9 as each kernel is designed for a specific version? Perhaps 8.9.1 will yield better results under a .4.9 system and 8.8.1 under a .4.8 system.

the benches were done on 10.4.9 system using apple combo update.
