zeeky
I've had OSx86 for a few months now, and I use it as my main computer - 3 Gigs of RAM, Intel 3.46 GHZ Dual Core... My laptop is a MacBook Pro. Today, Apple released the 10.4.9 system update, and I went, "Oh, an update! I'd better download it!", not knowing that it would screw up OSx86. So my computer no longer starts. It just resets at the Loading Darwin OSx86 screen. I learned the hard way that I must not install that kind of stuff. I can't beleive how stupid that was of me. :-( I would really appreciate some advice. Can I revert it to 10.4.8 or should I wipe the drive and reinstall everything from scratch?\ Thanks a ton in advance. mercurysquad
Well you might be able to simply boot from the DVD, and use the Terminal to replace the 10.4.9 kernel with the one on the DVD.. I don't know, but I think it might be possible. Also I assume you backed up your kext files? Try to replace those also. cyclonefr
Right, you can do that, so you won't have to reinstall OSX. You need AppleSMBIOS.kext, the new hacked kernel and R3D3, which will guarantee you a fully compatible 10.4.9 system like a real Mac. If you can't find it, you can put the old one, but you need as well the old System.kext, IPFirewall.kext and Kernel.framework.
