djbrettb
This is very, very weird. I have a Toshiba S5034 laptop. I attempted installing 10.4.8, and everything worked except for audio. I didn't want to bother with it, so I just reformatted back to Vista. Suddenly, the audio device is recognized, but the volume is extremely low. So low, that I can only hear it when I plug in my noise canceling headphones (which then lets me barely hear the sound). I figured it may just be a Vista issue, so I used the original factory restore discs and went back to XP. Still the same thing with the audio! I'm a computer technician, and even the rest of my co-workers can't figure this out. Could OSX have possibly done something to the firmware of my audio device? I tried leaving the laptop overnight unplugged and with the battery removed (main battery, not CMOS battery), hoping something would just reset itself, but that didn't work either. Has anyone else experienced this? I am having such a hard time figuring this one out. Thanks in advance, Brett Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45181-sound-not-working-regardless-of-os-after-osx-installation/ Share on other sites
hecker
If you have normal audio output through your earphones, then it will probably just be a hardware problem. Maybe you want to take a peek inside technician guy?
