tommytom02
I've got a failing 120GB seagate and I'm looking at this one to replace it. I just wanted to see if anyone has had problems with this in OSX before i get it. Does it run as fast as it should in OSX too? Seemed like some people had driver issues in windows according to the newegg reviews so I thought I'd check. If it means anything I'm using an ASRock 775Dual-VSTA, possibly upgrading to an ASUS P5W DH soon. Thanks all. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148139 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45043-seagate-st3320620a-320gb-perpendicular-hdd/ Share on other sites
Chizzer
I am using that same hdd, and I have no issues at all, didnt have to run any patches either for my ICH7 -sata either... so far soo good and seems to be just as quick as windows... kle500
Just for your interest, if your are looking for a silent HDD, don't go with that model of Seagate. Instead look for WD5000KS, which is fast and dead silent too. On the other hand if you want the fastest, go with a Raptor 150. I have tested a Raptor on my machine and the difference is obvious. My 2 cents Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45043-seagate-st3320620a-320gb-perpendicular-hdd/#findComment-322880 Share on other sites
kernalzero
I've been using this same drive without trouble for about a month now. It's great with huge capacity, osx recognizes it as 300GB but it's because of how OSX calculates drive sizes (osx is actually right). hope this helps, see my sig for the setup this drive is used in Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45043-seagate-st3320620a-320gb-perpendicular-hdd/#findComment-322885 Share on other sites
tommytom02
thanks for all the replies! i'm kinda on a tight budget (didn't anticipate having to make this purchase) and this seems to be the best bang for my buck. i've already got 2 WD360's on a raid 0 for my boot setup. this is just for a data drive. (music, iso's, pics, etc...) bought the seagate today, thanks fellas.
