Rafael Mendes
I have a hackintosh with a firewire pci card on it. In system profiler the firewire card is recognized correctly by showing this information: FireWire Bus: Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec But, when i connect my miniDV camcorder (Sony HC21), its not recognized correctly by showing this information: Unknown Device: Manufacturer: Unknown Model: Unknown Device Maximum Speed: Up to 100 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Unknown The problem im having is that iMovie HD `06 won`t capture the video from it. Is there any driver, or kext modification i can do to the cam work with iMovie HD? Thanks!! BigPimpin
There's a common thread between all the people having problems with their Firewire devices. We just don't know what it is yet. It could be the kernel, it could be the mobo chipset, it could be the kexts, it could be the Firewire chipsets. My Firewire ports work fine on 2 different machines, one running iATKOS and another Leo4All. Both machines have different Firewire chips so I don't think it's a generic problem. I think it's up to the people having the problems to get together and compare notes so they can pinpoint exactly what their insalls have in common. Nobody else can do it for them, and apparently there are not many people who actually use firewire devices at all. DrDigital
I think those who do use firewire devices own real macs. We are the ones with HD Cam Corders or Digital Cam Corders or VCRs and do video editing, they make the money and cant be messing around with osx86 when they got work to do. Currently I am using my Mac Mini 1.66ghz with 2 gigs of ram booting from a firewire hard drive to download my video, i save the project and use my gigabit network to send it the my hackintosh thats a quad core for its video editing It be nice to be able to use this system to do it all i think it be a hell of a lot faster, Q6600 with 8 gigs of ram and the fastest SATA II hard drives you can buy. Come January 2009 I will be buying a Mac Pro at the keynote, Ill then put QMaster on this and stick it in a rackmount case below my switchs and router and above the UPS's and put the mac mini on a shelf too for QMaster. Been using Macs since 33mhz kicked butt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44720-sony-hc-21-minidv-on-hackintosh/#findComment-897953 Share on other sites
