Obelix
Ok, I´ve read tons of threads before writing this, but i´m quite noob on osx install and can´t do a proper install on a Dell 745. I´ve installed the JAS 10.4.8+ppf1+defiant+ICH7 release with semthex kernel as read in the wiki. All works fine except the NIC... I´ve searched all over the forum to put to work, the Broadcom Nextreme 57xx Gigabit card. Firstly the card was not detected so i installed the moded AppleBCM57 kext and modified the added the vendor & device id to the parameters. After reboot, the network card is detected with 00:00:00:00:00:00 mac address as expected. When i try to change it i have this error ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): Network is down administradors-computer:~ root# ifconfig lo0: flags=8049 mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 gif0: flags=8010 mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8823 mtu 1500 ether 00:00:00:00:00:00 media: 100baseTX () supported media: none autoselect 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP 100baseTX 100baseTX 100baseTX 100baseTX 100baseTX 1000baseT 1000baseT 1000baseT administradors-computer:~ root# ifconfig en0 ether 00:18:8B:61:A3:75 ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): Network is down administradors-computer:~ root# I´ve tried to put it up, to use the setMac script.. but nothing works... I´m desperate. Can anyone be kind enough to give me some hints about what is happening? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44605-dell-optiflex-745-and-broadcom-nic/ Share on other sites

lappalainen
I've had the same problem for two days and stumbled across something which helped me. sudo ifconfig en0 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx change the x:s to your own specific mac-adr. Hope this helps. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44605-dell-optiflex-745-and-broadcom-nic/#findComment-339620 Share on other sites
ukhanlists
I am trying to install leopard on my OptiPlex 745 and I would be grateful if you all shared your experience and steps for getting it installed on this Dell machine. I tried doing the Vanilla install and I can't even get the installer to come up.
