macisawesome
Can someone help me? I have a Mac pro G5. I tried installing the Parallels Desktop 3188 but then a message comes up saying "Parallels Desktop cannot be installed on this computer. Make sure your system meets the requirements" or something like that. I read the requirements and i think i meet them. It just doesn't make sense. Schweppes
I think Parallels Desktop is only for Intel Macs. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44562-parallels-desktop-for-mac-build-31880/#findComment-319452 Share on other sites
macgirl
Yes it is, it doesn't emulate X86 procesor on PPC macs. For a PowerMac G5 (there is no Mac Pro G5 btw) you can use VirtualPC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44562-parallels-desktop-for-mac-build-31880/#findComment-319463 Share on other sites
macisawesome
I thought the powermac G5 was an intel mac? I am seriously new to all this sorry if these sound like stupid questions. Doesn't intel duo core processor mean it is an intel mac? errandwolfe
Is 3188 a new beta? Didn't they just release a new "final" version just last week? EDIT: Never mind, 3188 is the "final" build number. macgirl
G5 means 5th Generation of PPC processors, although the 1st and 2nd generation didn't reflect that in the name of the processors. errandwolfe
A great site to read up on the history of Macs is lowendmac.com. There you can get a history of the Mac starting with the original Macintosh computer through the Mac Pro.
